about

It's July 7, 2017. I turn 49 years old today.

I wanted to release an album today as a birthday present to myself...at first because I had an idea for the cover that I thought would look cool. I put together a small modular synthesizer that runs on batteries, and started recording improvisations whenever and wherever I could. My first session was last Saturday, in my car as I waited for my daughters to finish dance class.

I'm really happy with the seven ambient vignettes that came out of this project...some of the most unhurried music that I've made.

This music ended up being about contentment. About making the most of the time and place it's in, with no pressure to change or develop (although it still does). Which seems like a pretty good approach as I near my second half-century.

Thanks for listening.
