about

All tracks were improvised and recorded in a parking garage on portable, battery-powered equipment with no overdubs or additional effects. Care was taken to maintain the dynamic range of the performances as much as possible, so this album rewards listening at high volume.

Tracks were sequenced with the LP format in mind: two musical "suites" with a pause in between. Tracks 1-4 make up "Side One", and tracks 5-11 are "Side Two".

Press:
"This has all the elements of great noise music: it's loud most of the times, but not exclusively, played with some fine care for composition/improvisation, and always, it seems, concise and to the point."
- Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly 909

"Uneasy listening for the experimental set. It is harsh at times, and generally aggressive. There is a lot crammed into this short disc, which keeps everything fresh. Very enjoyable."
- eskaton, Chain D.L.K.

credits

released November 20, 2013

"Suburban Echoes" was performed, recorded, and mastered by Clarke Robinson in 2013. Tracks 1, 5, and 6 were recorded on February 10; Tracks 3, 4, 7, and 8 were recorded on February 17; Tracks 2 and 10 were recorded on March 3.

Special thanks to Jim Whittemore for general technical/moral support (and for the synthesizer used on this recording). Credit goes the following people, whose words I borrowed (and in some cases, butchered) to make the track titles: Aldous Huxley, John Kenneth Galbraith, Noam Chomsky, Edward Abbey, Hesiod, Eric Hoffer, Socrates, Bertrand Russell, C.S. Lewis, and Paul Heyne.
